dser Robot Vacuums – so impressive, we bought a second one!

Yes. it’s true – one January 3rd of this year, we dipped our toe into the “Robot Vacuum” pool… but being skeptical about the value and efficacy of such a machine, I wasn’t that keen on spending $400 on a the big brand name that’s almost synonymous with the product – a ‘Roomba Robot Vacuum‘.

Instead, I decided to try out a more budget friendly offering, but even that wasn’t done without a nudge from an old friend – Dave Taylor of AskDaveTaylor.com

You see, Dave has been a film critic, author, dad-blogger and a product reviewer for many years. As such, he is often provided products to review and as we’re both geeks, we have fairly similar critical thinking skills when it comes to these types of devices. What I mean by that is that expensive isn’t always the best- although it sometimes can be.

A good value for money robot vacuum that Dave was sent a review model for, was the dser RoboGeek 21T – it’s name even fits right in with me and I hadn’t even read the full review yet… 😀

Well, needless to say, I ponied up the dollars to get this robot vacuum, and then I told my ever-loving wife that I’d got this machine to save her from hard work. Yeah, that was an interesting conversation that went surprisingly well. And then we waited for the beast to arrive.

When the RoboGeek 21T arrived, we unpacked the little beastie, and we put him together. We skimmed the included literature and we placed him on his charger.

I decided that we needed to charge him for a while before putting him to work.

During the reading of the one-sheet getting started document, we marveled at the remote and the ‘Go Home’ button… it was decided, little Geek was no more, the robot’s name would be “E.T.”. If you don’t get it, then you’re probably not into early Steven Spielberg films. Nevermind…

This robot was so cool, we’d have fun putting down the strips and setting him off to clean places that are hard to reach, like under dressers and the bed – OMG – those cats leave fur in places you have no idea!

So, just 7 weeks after getting our first robo-vac, we were decided that hauling E.T. upstairs and setting him up just wouldn’t do.. he needed a little brother or sister…

On February 25th, we decided to take the plunge and order a second robot vacuum… yeah, we loved this thing that much – so I went online to order another 21T. Things had changed in the dser world, and for the better.

Oh yeah – the big brother to the 21T had launched… yay!! There was a new dser RoboGeek 23T available now – with more suction!!! Heck yeah… gimme some of that…

So – which one would I get if I was to buy another? Definitely I’d go with the 23T as it’s only $10 more after you add the coupon!  The downside of that… we really can’t justify a 3rd robot vac, as we still have a pretty good dyson vacuum.  🙁
